Alliance Theological Seminary is the official, national seminary of The Christian and Missionary Alliance, centered in metropolitan New York and Puerto Rico. As a multicultural, evangelical seminary, ATS is committed to developing in men and women a personal knowledge of God and His work in the world in order to equip them for the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the expansion of His church.

The Seminary engages in ongoing evaluation of its educational effectiveness measured in part through: 1) graduation and completion rates; (2) student exit interviews; and 3) summary data from course evaluation forms and other assessments.

2016-2017 graduating M.Div. students rating of ATS’ educational effectiveness in facilitating skill areas related to the core learning goals as reported on the Association of Theological Schools Graduating Student Questionnaire (Average rating based on a 5-point scale: 1-Not at all effective, 2-Not very effective, 3-Somewhat effective, 4-Effective, 5-Very effective):

  • Ability to use and interpret Scripture 4.4
  • Ability to think theologically 4.5
  • Ability to interact effectively in different cultural contexts 4.6
  • Ability to give spiritual direction 4.5

According to a survey of 2015-2016 graduates of Alliance Theological Seminary, within one year of graduation 56% of respondents had a vocational ministry placement, and 23% had a non-vocational placement, while 6% continued on to further studies.

Alliance Theological Seminary is accredited by The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and, as a division of Alliance University, by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. ATS operates as a graduate school of Alliance University under the charter of Alliance University granted by the Board of Regents of the State Education Department of the University of the State of New York. The Board of Regents for the State of New York empowers Alliance University to grant the Doctor of Ministry (D.MIN), Master of Divinity (M.Div.), the Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S.), and the Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees.
